Staff Bio

Real Name: Robert Wesley Smith III
Nicknames: Bobby, Rob, Spazzy, That Damn Cat, Spaz
How did I get my name?: Well it all starts in the game Archmage, a rather interesting text-based strategy game. My usual name was "MasterMage", but at one point, it was taken. So I chose the name StarStorm. The rather long nick I have in the chat (StarStorm_the_Spazzy_Fuzzball) is because my online "avatar" is a cat, and I'm a bit of a spaz.
Age: 22 (Birthdate: July 24, 1981)
Gender: Male. Very Male.
Occupation: Unemployed/Amateur Author/Cute Kitty Cat of RPGC/Weiila's Boyfriend
Religion: Agnostic
Political Alignment: Not sure. Moderate I suppose.
Likes: Weiila, Games, Pizza, My friends, Screwing around with idiots, Reading, Writing, Weiila, Cats, Catgirls... did I mention Weiila? I don't know how to describe them all.
Dislikes: Idiots, Fanatics, Political Correctness, People who hurt others for no reason, Narrow-minded people... I don't know how to describe them all either.
Strengths: I'm pretty introspective and self-knowledgeable. I can get things done if I put my mind to it. I'm also not a very jealous person and can be quite laid-back.
Weaknesses: I'm lazy. VERY lazy. Almost self-destructively so. I'm depressive, and I smoke. I know I should quite but still. I'm also quite weak-willed... usually. But I do have a bit of a temper, but it takes a lot to rouse it.
Favorite RPGs: Final Fantasy 4, Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, Seiken Densetsu 3, Tales of Phantasia... How do I choose?
Favorite Music: Hmm I generally prefer video game music.
Favorite Movies: The Goonies, Gremlins 2, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, The Princess Bride, The Indiana Jones Trilogy, Super Mario Brothers, Men In Black, among other things.
Favorite Books: The Harry Potter series, the Animorphs Series, The Support Your Local Wizard Trilogy, starting to like Terry Pratchett.
How did I join RPGC?: Well, I wrote my first fanfic (Enter A Warmage, FF4) and found the RPGC fanfic archive sometime later. I started reading, and enjoyed Weiila's fanfics, so I requested mine be posted. Mazrim posted it, and a few moths later, I sent a fanmail to Weiila saying how much I loved her work and to ask if she read mine. This started an email dialogue between us, and she lured me to the boards. The rest is history.
Favorite excuse for not shrining when I should be: Games, simple as that.
Reason why I chose to shrine Might and Magic 7: I loved the game, and after my failed attempts to shrine Goden Sun and Heroes of Might and Magic 3, I chose the game since it was available, and I really wanted to be staff.
Future plans in RPGC: I'd like to retake the HoM&M3 shrine, as well as become Fanfic Archive maintainer.
Catgirls or Angels?: I love Catgirls, but Weiila's my Angel. Angels all the way, Catgirls coming a close second. If I could combine both...
What's my favorite cartoon?: Not sure actually.
Swords or Maces: Maces are cool, but I prefer swords. Claws are better though.
How did I get such an adorable girlfriend? And are you going to get married?: Got lucky I guess. *laughs* I just asked her one day (on my birthday) if she loved me. Things went from there. And will we get married? I'd lvoe to, but you never know. One prays though.
Can I pet you?: You exist only to pet me. So get with the petting.
What kind of cat are you?: Bengal Tiger.
Favorite Color: Blue.
What is the airspeed of a Gamecube-laden swallow?: Depends on the height. From high enough, it's terminal velocity. *laughs*.
What is my quest?: To find a job, make a good living for myself, and eventually my wife and children.
Where would you live besides Sweden?: Not sure. I like it in Michigan.
Moogle or Chocobo and why?: Chocobos. While Moogles are cool, Chocobos are more utilitarian.
What happened to your sig and your cool avatar? The pissed off cat in the avatar is all right but the sword wielding kitty was kick butt!: I found my current avatar on the Dominic Deegan boards, thought it was cool and I was due for an avatar change. By the way, the "sword-weilding kitty" was a rakasha, a creature from indian myth, and a very very evil creature. If I recall anyway..
What things used to be like in your newbie days?: Hmm don't remember. The ToB was acutally funny, and just... many many things. I have a shitty memory.
Who's your favorite fanfic author, and why?: Weiila and Archone. I generally consider them to be the best I've read, and it's they who drew me in (although Archone never replied to my fanmail... probably a good thing in this case).
What kind of RPG suits your tastes the most?: I generally prefer the classic Final Fantasy-style RPG. Although improvements and variations are nice. I'm not closed to other ideas..
What's the secret to a carefree cheerfulness?: Hard to describe. I have my moments. But realizing that there's a lot I can't control and not worrying about them, like people. Knowing myself, and what makes me sad, and working those things out. Many things. It's hard to decribe. I have a lot of depressed moments, mind you. I just don't show them often. Ask Weiila if you want to know.
Which things do you like the most about this place?: The community, definately. It HAS changed over time, but I don't feel it has deteriorated like other places. RPGC has had it's moments, but it usually recovered.
And finally, my works: Enter A Warmage, Legend of the Reptites, Second Sun (incomplete, updates on the Media Board) and An Islander Christmas. Check my forum signature and the Media Board for my incompletes.
