Sabin: What country are you from?

And I think the US' recent success in the global rankings stem largely from the fact that they beat Brazil and Mexico (I think) in some tournament the other year and because they got off to a phenomenal start in the qualifying rounds around when the rankings were made (towards the end of qualifying the US started slipping a little).

And let's cool it down here about the flaming, keep your criticisms a little more intelligent Sabin and Sorc.

Hey, I was stating facts. I also didnt think I was being unintelligent...but whatever..

The fact that the judge was french and that she was paid to vote for russia speaks for itself..

Sabin, it's hard to argue with Russia and their uh "method of winning." They were notorious for jacking up their athletes and "adjusting" the playing field in the Olympics of the Cold War. And the Russian complaints during the last Olympics were kinda silly at times.

Well, did you know North American mass media- if you happen to live there- is the most liable and untrustworthy. You should not believe in it, really.

Well, I have numerous news reports of the french judge admitting to russian intimidation of her decision..

Anybody care to define Joe-SixPack? I cant.

And I would say that the North American, most notably that of the US, is much more reliable than the media of russia during the cold war.

it's true, the judge purpotedly testified that members of the Russian Ice Federation (or whatever the organization is called) were pressuring her.

And Sabin, I think it's silly to call any one nation's journalism over another's "is the most liable and untrustworthy," for that is impossible to prove unless you experienced the events being reported.

And Russia hasn't had a sparkling journalistic reputation the last 50 years

Yes sorcerer, sure

You are right, I was hiding it from you, but the true is Russia menaced France, saying they would nuke French to the dark ages if the judges had not done this.

"Anybody care to define Joe-SixPack? I cant."

Sally soccermom
couching potato
lemmings

is it enough?

"And I would say that the North American, most notably that of the US, is much more reliable than the media of russia during the cold war."

Yes, the bad old Russians that eat children at morning.

North American mass media is TOTALLY manipulated, it does not EVEN worries about true American people, you should pay attention closer to the events occuring in all the World and how U.S media portrays and presents to Americans.

Dont use sarcasm to hide your ignorance. You probably missed this entire fisade because you live in Russia, assuming you do.

Really, your not going to convince me of otherwise. Russia may not have put a gun to her head, but there are far easier ways to intimidate someone without doing so.

No, I still dont understand what you mean by Joe- 6 Pack..

Your sarcasm about Russia in the Cold War is laughable, you do know of the existence of the KGB, right? Yea, I hope so..

Unless you live here, you really arent in a position to criticize american media. We get a rather vivid picture of the events in the rest of the world via our reporters and field journalists that are placed in areas that the news is worth reporting.

anyways, I want to talk about the World Cup, not journalism or six packs. So either take this conversation to private messages or make a new thread (if you can manage to keep it within the boundaries of the rules which I doubt :P).

Anyways, what chances do you guys think Uruguay has against France? I don't know much about the team except that they hosted the first world cup :P

Let me just reply, because I hate when things are left half finished.

"such as what events Sabin? And who are the "true American people," since you obviously seem to hate Mr. Joe Sixpack."

Well, Joe sixpack was not always the representation of Americans, even though America was never a craddle of Culture- no offense, really- at the twenties, thirties Americans had a far richer Culture and society.

"Dont use sarcasm to hide your ignorance. You probably missed this entire fisade because you live in Russia, assuming you do."

Do you know sarcasm? It seems Joe sixpack are improving after all... Or maybe I was serious?

"Really, your not going to convince me of otherwise. Russia may not have put a gun to her head, but there are far easier ways to intimidate someone without doing so."

Really? What ways would be them, if you care to explain.

"No, I still dont understand what you mean by Joe- 6 Pack.."

Joe sipacks are not meant to understand.

"Your sarcasm about Russia in the Cold War is laughable, you do know of the existence of the KGB, right? Yea, I hope so.."

You are the Joe sixpack, not me, I have a fair good knowledge of history, mainly if it regards my people.

"
Unless you live here, you really arent in a position to criticize american media. We get a rather vivid picture of the events in the rest of the world via our reporters and field journalists that are placed in areas that the news is worth reporting"

I check sources, news, etc, I know what I am talking about.

Gila Monster

"lol, mr.wacky conspiracy guy"

The liberal speaks!

"Russians eating babies at morning? lol, that's pretty funny."

See Sorcerer, someone likes my sarcasm.

Do not delete please, move if you want to...

About World Cup, Uruguai used to be top rate, but they suck now, I still bet France qualifies at first position-even if Zidane is 80% of France National team.

I belive Merlin asked us to stop..but whatever.

Just because someone likes your sarcasm, doenst mean I have too.

I still havent a clue what your talking about Joe Six Pack..

Right, you check your news sources, you should know how well our news stations report the news.

Other intimidation tactics other than nuking ones country or putting a gun to your head? Easy. Threatening your family, destroying your bank account, burning your house down, there are lots of them. Be creative, Im sure you can think of a few.

I also have a fair knowledge of the history Ive been taught, and that of which I have discovered on my own. Russia has always been careful about what is put out on the news and such. You obviously dont know what your talking about when you call OUR news system biased (or whatever your calling it). At least our news reports the whole story.

As for the cup, how much of the current France team played on the championship team(s)? If we know that, then we can possibly gauge the match better.

Did not ask to.

"I still havent a clue what your talking about Joe Six Pack.."

Proves my point.

"Right, you check your news sources, you should know how well our news stations report the news."

Yes, they are not biased at all! That is why Americans believe Osama Bin Laden blew up the two buildings because he hates democracy and freedom, sure.

"Other intimidation tactics other than nuking ones country or putting a gun to your head? Easy. Threatening your family, destroying your bank account, burning your house down, there are lots of them. Be creative, Im sure you can think of a few."

I didn't read this topic until now, but I'm offended how you throw liberal around as an insult. I don't throw conservative out as an insult even though I don't agree with them. Besides- a lot of the things that you defined as "liberal" did not lean either left or right. Get a dictionary, read the word liberal. Read the word conservative. Learn to use them correctly.

BTW- Lemmings don't really jump off of cliffs to their doom. Disney made that up in a doctored documentary video- seriously.

Sorry, I had to say that. Continue with your soccer.

That sentence didn't make sense, but...

Liberal
Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry.

Conservative
Favoring traditional views and values; tending to oppose change

I don't see how either of them can be used as an insult.

People tend to understand/accept views that make sense.

Anyway, Argentina played hard, but England was hellbent on that 'giving-argentina-the-corner-kick' strategy, and I must say it worked rather nicely.
